Grant’s favorite game these days is peek-a-boo. He’ll hide behind anything, couch cushions, books, and blankets and then peek out at you. Then he giggles and does it again.
I watched my friend’s two kids this week. It wasn’t as tough as last time, mainly because I had Brian around when things got messy but it was still draining.
Somehow in my crazy week I managed to finish reading, Gone with the Wind. It is 718 pages. I loved it.
Brian’s been working on starting our local high school’s newspaper. They finished their second issue this week. It’s going really well, but taking a lot of time too. He enjoys being part of a newspaper again even if he isn’t writing.
Brian’s recap of Jackson’s first campout: As I loaded the car, I knew Jackson was aware that we were going somewhere special when he climbed into his car seat wearing a bike helmet. I told him the car was just as safe even though we were going camping, but he insisted on wearing it.
We parked right at the campsite, a quiet clearing among tall cedars. After playing on the teeter-totters and slides across the street, we set up the tent; Jackson helped hammer in the stakes. Then we carved up sticks and roasted hot dogs over the fire. Jackson said he didn’t want any burnt spots on his, but I told him that’s how you’re supposed to do it when you’re camping.
After marshmallows, the other scout leaders set up a projector to play a movie on a sheet strung between trees. As the scouts waited, Jackson apparently felt there should be an opening act. He stood in front of the projector, casting his little shadow on the screen, and sang in a loud voice, “Old MacDonald had a Farm.” He got to “With a neigh-neigh there” before I snatched him away as the movie began.
It was 10:30 before he got to bed, and he slept until 9:30 the next morning. We had just enough time to play on the teeter-totter again before heading home.

So fun! I know Pret can't wait to take our future sons camping! I also look forward to the break away from kids!! Sounds like Jackson enjoyed the experience.
Our ward is considering doing one. I hope they do, I think both Daddy and boys would love it! I love your little first act player! Too cute!
