Tuesday night was Enrichment (a quarterly evening for the women at church). I am the enrichment councilor so I normally would have been very busy and stressed. But I have an amazing enrichment leader and all I had to do was show up and make a couple of copies. The evening went pretty well, I think all who attended enjoyed themselves. We were there until 9:45pm cleaning up, which normally I wouldn’t mind, but I had the boys with me because Brian had a class. Surprisingly, they behaved quite well and even helped out. But we have been suffering for the late bedtime ever since.
Saturday morning we packed the car and headed to Green Bay for Stake Conference. Grant didn’t take a nap in the car, so he was pretty tired by the time the adult session was over. Instead of adding an extra hour (round trip) of driving by staying with friends in Appleton, we decided to stay with a family we didn’t know in Green Bay (the stake arranges for housing if needed). We stayed with a couple who live in a very, very nice house and who have two enormous dogs. The bigger one had to be 4 feet tall, standing on all four legs. They were very friendly and therefore we have dog hair all over our clothes. We really enjoyed our time with this family but have also recommitted to never have a dog.
Before arriving at the Stake Center we swung into Best Buy (it’s the closest one to us, only 3.5 hours away) and bought a Clearplay DVD player. Our DVD player has been skipping and needed replacing. We spent a little more to get the Clearplay. If you haven’t heard of it before, it edits movies as you watch them. You download the editing information off of the Internet onto a jump drive and put it in the player. You put in the DVD and it cleans it up. We’re excited to try it out.
Grant’s been getting teeth this week. He had a couple days of clinginess and a fever. He seems to be a little better, but still chews on his fingers—actually his whole hand. At one point to day he had 8 fingers in his mouth chewing away, poor kid.
We’ve repeatedly told Jackson that we can pause the movie he’s watching or Wii game he’s playing if he has to use the bathroom. Apparently, we’ve used it one to many times. He’s been using the phrase in odd places. Tonight, for example, he was drawing some pictures with Brian, and I walked in with a bowl of popcorn. Jackson said, “Let’s pause my drawing so I can eat some popcorn.”
