In Which We Return from Ocean Shores

After realizing that it would just be easier to write the update myself than to tell Brian what to write I have taken the responsibility over again. I guess I’m just a little controlling sometimes.

Sadly, our perfect vacation came to an end. But lucky for us, it wasn’t a calm ending. As we were driving the 2.5 hours to the Seattle Airport we got a flat tire on our rental car. Brian and his manly family collaborated and changed it in no time. But we still had at least an hour to go and therefore we couldn’t drive on the doughnut. So we headed to Les Schuab to have it repaired. The technician fixed it very, very quickly, but we still doubted we would make our flight. After cutting in line at security, and racing through the airport we made it with 7 minutes to spare.

Thursday, we attended the summer reading program ice cream social. We had the time wrong and missed the ice cream, which was dreadfully sad. But Jackson got to pick out a new book and we went to McDonald’s for sundaes after. In all Jackson read 266 books over the past two months. I think he came in third out of all the kids who participated.

Saturday morning, Brian and I carpooled to Green Bay where we caught a bus to Chicago in order to attend the temple. It was a wonderful few hours in the temple. I ran into some members of the ward I grew up in too. It’s always great to see familiar faces in the temple. The boys stayed home with a sitter and as far as we know behaved themselves.

Jackson has been throwing some serious tantrums lately, adding some spunk to our daily routine. He has also chosen not to potty train and is content wearing pull-ups forever.

Grant is cruising around the house with full toddler speed. We seem to lose him a lot, but his favorite spots are opening and closing the doors in the bathroom, getting into the pantry, or taking the shoes off the shoe rack, so we can usually find him fairly quickly. He is still eating whatever we give him and out eats Jackson on a regular basis.
