In Which Grant Prays for Dinosaurs

Grant is finally over his cold, mine’s at the tail end but Brian’s just starting. We had a quiet week staying home trying to keep our germs to ourselves.
My highlight of the week was getting my hair highlighted and cut. We’ll get some pictures soon.
We checked out a book from the library called, “Dino-hockey.” So we’ve been reading it constantly and playing hockey in the kitchen. Jackson and Brian have played their version of air hockey before, using small Tupperware containers for the paddles, lids for pucks, and the kitchen floor as the table. This week we pulled out the mops. That’s all Jackson wants to do now is play hockey with the mops.
We received The Aurorean in the mail this week, which is the literary journal containing Brian’s first-ever poem. It was cool to see it in print. Yahoo!

In Which Jackson Dreams of the Tee
We had a lot of fun things planned for this week, but Sunday evening Grant’s little cold turned into a big cold. After a few rough days and rougher nights it took a turn for the worst. Thursday afternoon I took him to the doctor because he kept pointing to his left ear saying it hurt. The doctor couldn’t see in his left ear very well but managed a good look at the right and it was infected. So chances are he has a double ear infection. After some pain meds and a little rest he seemed much better. He’s still fighting taking his antibiotics but at least he’s feeling better. I on the other hand got the cold and am still feeling pretty yucky.
Brian finished up classes this week. We’ve been able to see him more and it’s been nice to have less stress. He still has to attend two final hours this week but only has a little work to do for them.
Jackson just came in (he’s supposed to be in bed) and asked me if I could see the bubble above his head. He said, “Because it means that I’m dreaming about the tee.” He’s very eager to play baseball tomorrow.
50 years ago today the church was established in the Upper Peninsula. This summer there are lots of celebrations planned. We had the first last night. It was a 50s-theme dance. It was a little silly but the boys had a great time dancing and rolling hula hoops across the gym.
Jackson was assigned to give his first talk this week; he decided to talk about Moses. He very eagerly sat in the special “talk” chair waiting his turn. Once he had the microphone and Brian showed the first picture he said he didn’t want to talk about Moses. Then he got shy and eventually crouched down behind the podium. When the primary president asked if he just wanted to try again a different time, he said he would and ran back to his seat as if nothing had happened.
